Who We Are and What We Do

We help teachers help students.

The Miss Katie Woodie Foundation was founded in 2021 to honor Miss Kathleen "Katie" M. Woodie.

Katie cared deeply about others and mostly children, because of this she became a teacher. Katie graduated from Oakwood High School in Dayton, Ohio in 2011. She went to college at the University of Dayton and graduated with a B.A. in Education in 2015. Post graduation she moved to Nashville, Tennessee to start her career as a teacher.  She taught Kindergarten, first grade and 2 years of third grade. Her last 2 years teaching was in Murfreesboro, TN at Walter Hill Elementary School.

Walter Hill was very special to Katie, all the co-workers became her family away from home, and it became her community that she loved.  She had a special bond with all of her beloved students.

Knowing what Walter Hill and Oakwood Schools in Dayton mean to her, it is our hope to support the teachers who give so much of their own time and resources into making their teaching environment best for their student population.

How We Help

The Miss Katie Woodie Foundation works to provide quality and lasting resources for teachers at both Walter Hill Elementary and Oakwood City Schools. Our goal is to ease the financial burden that teachers take on in order to make their classrooms the perfect places for learning and growth.
